Thank Goodness for the Aussies

• By Andrew Gillespie

People sometimes ask what it is like selling snowboard gear in August. The answer is: surprisingly busy, thanks to a hemisphere we cannot see from Massachusetts.

"Thank goodness for the Australians and the guys in New Zealand," says our founder Andrew Gillespie. "It's their winter right now in the Southern Hemisphere, so we've been selling loads of them."

Winter never actually ends

While the Northern Hemisphere is at the beach, riders in Australia and New Zealand are on snow, and they have been ordering Giinis day by day all season. It keeps the workshop humming through our summer, and it means the Pyro gets tested on real mountains twelve months a year instead of six.

One order this winter came in for five different colorways in a single go. Somewhere in Australia, a mum or dad kitted out the entire family at once. If that family reads this: you are our favorite customers and we hope the sniggers at the lift exit are a thing of the past for all five of you.

And now the north wakes up

As summer dwindles and fall creeps in, orders from US riders have started arriving too. Hardcore riders will be out on the first patch of snow that survives a night, and the smart ones are getting their gear sorted now instead of in the lift line.

So consider this the friendly nudge. The season is coming to this half of the planet, the Aussies have spent months proving the Pyro works, and your board has one spot on it that could use an upgrade before the first chair.

Pick your colorway before the snow flies.
